Naples's historical centre has been
included by the UNESCO in the World's Heritage of Mankind; with its historical
witnesses spanning across 2.500 years, it is provided with 20 museums, 4 huge
picture-galleries, the Aquarium, the Botanical Garden, 4 castles, 5 city gates,
2 royal palaces, 6 parks, many historical fountains and squares, 7 libraries, a
huge number of monumental streets and buildings, over 100 churches and
catacombs of remarkable historical value. The archaeological inheritance is
relevant, and is sometimes part of the urban structure. Naples can be
righteously considered a city of Art, Handicraft, Folklore, Music, Culture,
Science, Cuisine. its Origins mount back to Greek colonisation, and its history
has never been interrupted since then. Once chief town of a kingdom, it now
offers many different itineraries to the visitor: the Greek-Roman, the
Renaissance, the Fountains', the Caravaggio itinerary and others. Naples is
like a casket to be opened street by street, square after square, monument by
monument, so that you can keep memories of it that'll never fade.
